For
X-1R Rally Team, the Malaysian Rally Championship began with
the first round at the Salak Tinggi Estate area in Sepang
where a total of twenty teams registered and participated.
Leading names in the rally scene that turned up the heat in
this round one included the team of Kan Chee Hong and Bernard
Chin, Adrian Lam and Sanjeev Menon, Lim Leong Onn and Terry
Teh, and Ian Khong and Ivan Ng. A great rally was had by all
but for X-1R Rally Team driver (Hafizy Hafiz) and co-driver
(Rezal Jamaluddin), the race proved a real challenge when
they faced some technical problems in their Proton Wira 4WD.
The team prevailed and managed to finish the two days in Second
place for its class. |
| The Malaysian
Rally Championship was organised by Wheel Sport Management,
there were four hard surfaced rough circuits that was used
for the first round;
- The 8.57km Manager's Bungalow course was filled with
a series of windy road with tight corners. It was used for
SS1, SS5, SS9 & SS13.
- SS2, SS6, SS10 & SS14 was called Interior, where
the road was a more open and faster SS with long and fast
corners in its 8.87km course.
- The shortest yet most difficult course was the Middle
Temple where the 6.87km roads were ridden with holes and
very rough terrains, used for SS3, SS7, SS11 & SS15.
- The favourite of X-1R Rally Team was SS4, SS8, SS12 &
SS16 at the Sungai Linau course where the sharp and fast
corners dominated its long 9.05km
